Whitman-Walker Clinic's Max Robinson Center, named after the nation's first African-American network
news anchor, Max Robinson, who died of AIDS in 1988,
has been providing HIV/AIDS services for clients living in
southeast D.C. since 1992. MRC provides a wide range of services
to the community east of the Anacostia River in a culturally competent and sensitive manner.
MRC serves an area that traditionally has been underserved
and faces tremendous challenges when it comes to primary health
care and HIV/AIDS services.

Primary
medical care, including regular check ups,
urgent care for illness for current patients, testing for
sexually transmitted infections and pediatric care is available
at Max Robinson Center.

Dental
Services
MRC provides dental care to the uninsured or underinsured
diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
Day Treatment
Day treatment creates a setting for holistic health care
for people living with HIV/AIDS. Nutritional assessment and
counseling, nursing care, support and psychotherapy groups
and activities in art, music, and movement therapy are among
the services offered to maintain a focus on the whole person
in the healing process.
Mental Health and
Addiction Treatment Services
Professionally led psychotherapy groups, psychiatric evaluation,
peer facilitated support groups, individual and couples
counseling, addiction treatment counseling and referral and
assistance for HIV-related mental health issues are available
through this program.
