FoodBank and Nutritional Counseling

The FoodBank of Whitman-Walker Clinic, located at 1816 14th St., N.W., provides supplemental nutritional assistance at no cost to individuals who are living with HIV/AIDS in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

FoodBank Hours
Monday 7-8 p.m.
Tuesday 7-8 p.m.
Wednesday 12-2 p.m.
Thursday 7-8 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

The FoodBank's goal is to provide 50 percent of the nutritional needs of low-income individuals referred by metropolitan area HIV/AIDS case managers and social workers and by the Clinic. The FoodBank services are based on the belief that a healthy and well-balanced diet is critical to the overall health care strategy of persons living with HIV/AIDS.

Currently, the FoodBank offers its customers food, nutritional supplements and nutritional education. Healthy eating habits are considered an essential part of HIV/AIDS treatment. Particular attention to diet is critical to optimize the benefits of HIV/AIDS medications.

Professional nutritional education and counseling are provided through the Clinic's Medical Services.  Nutritional assessment and BIA analysis of body consumption are included.

In providing for their customers, FoodBank staff and more than 150 volunteers strive to help in a careful and sensitive manner, treating each individual with dignity and respect.
