COMMUNITY HEALTH

Community Health promotes safer and healthier behavior through HIV prevention programs that provide information, education and technical assistance. Our health communication campaigns for individuals, community-based organizations and government agencies are designed to assure cultural appropriateness to specific populations in the Washington metropolitan area who are at greatest risk.

Community Outreach is provided through health and wellness fairs and HIV presentations at public schools, colleges and universities, local churches, homeless shelters, adolescent halfway houses and workplaces.

Suburban Maryland AIDS Reduction Training (S.M.A.R.T) Campaign
The SMART Program is a CDC-funded cooperative agreement to provide HIV/AIDS Prevention in Suburban Maryland, specifically targeting African-Americans in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties. Services available to all populations include street and community outreach, HIV counseling and testing, prevention workshops, individual HIV risk reduction counseling, peer education training, support groups and a speaker's bureau.
